Brattle Launches New In-House CRM system for Total MRO Protection

Monday, July 12th, 2010

After the recent launch of Total MRO’s new website featuring a design overhaul, catalog and sales process simplification, and a deeply integrated e-commerce solution we sat down with a managing partner to figure out how else we could help optimize operations and the sales process for them.

Discouraged by the pricing structures they were finding from the large online CRM providers, Total MRO decided it would make the most sense to develop a custom CRM to their current specifications and foreseeable future requirements. Doing away with the tiered pricing structure and recurring licensing fees, in favor of a system they could have actual ownership of with no tricks to lock them in.

Many added benefits may not be apparent now, but we see some interesting ways that they could further integrate this CRM system with their internal ERP system to further streamline their internal processes and communication.

Recent Development(s)

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Over the last couple months we have been working on an exciting project for Total MRO involving, among other things, integrating an e-commerce solution with their internal Sage MAS-90 system. Sage MAS-90 is a fully featured Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system that does everything from warehouse inventory management, to invoicing and accounting, to order credit card processing. This project entailed redesigning and rebuilding their website to be in line with modern web standards and practices, architecting an e-commerce solution that could work with their Sage MAS-90 system, and adding a feature set to the website that was currently unavailable through their traditional sales channels. The benefit of the project would be seen across the board as they will be able to increase sales by avoiding internal bottlenecks. This streamlining will mean more revenue without having to scale other areas of their infrastructure.

Total MRO looked to us to orchestrate this project; we worked with Acom Healthcare, Shields Design Studio and ROI Consulting of Omaha, Nebraska. Acom and Shields produced a great, clean, highly usable design and photography which conveys the professionalism that they were lacking in their previous website. ROI Consulting supplied us with the INSYNCH module which allows connections between SQL and the Sage system, using this module we were able to directly integrate our system with their internal systems and their real-time data.

Having the web interface for ordering allows them to do many things they were previously unable to do. We designed a solution to provide recommended products based on what other people have ordered, created areas for TotalMRO to feature select products, and built an easy to use product reordering system for their customers. In addition to these new features, the customers that had custom pricing based on their order volumes have these prices reflected on the site when they log in using their preexisting customer number.

These features reflect a small subset of what our development team is capable of. We worked with Total MRO to discover what would work best for them, most enhance the user experience, and help boost sales. As we near launch all parties are pleased with where we are and the potential that the new site holds for their company. This has been a very interesting project for us, and has been a great opportunity to help another business discover and enhance internal efficiencies

Introducing Reference Processing

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

Brattle is introducing a new service to our web clients, “Reference Processing”. The service works a little bit like artificial intelligence for your search results. Helping people quickly and seamlessly get directly to the information they are looking for. This service, used in conjunction with our analytics solutions will be able to dramatically reduce your bounce rate on certain searches, while not disturbing the users who are finding what they are really looking for.

Every time a user interacts with your website in any way, that activity, and all of its details are recorded. We are then able to analyze this data with you to decide what people are looking for, what people are finding, and how we can make those two things the same.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is half art and half science, and even if orchestrated perfectly may leave a gap between what people want and what they find. For example, if someone is searching for a specific product, they may be directed to a page higher in your site hierarchy than they need or want to see. Instead of navigating to the correct page on your site, they are likely to leave and return to their search results to find another provider.

It could require a substantial reorganizational effort within your site to get these results to organically direct you to the appropriate pages. And these changes may adversely affect how you rank for other queries.

Our Reference Processor can be configured to take these queries with high bounce rates and redirect the users to the pages most appropriate for them. Effectively, now when someone uses a search engine to find your site, the reference processer will double-check that they get where they are trying to go. Search engines algorithms and indexing services are incredible, but they are no match for your own personal knowledge of your site and your users’ trends and habits.

The system is available to the public on a per-site or per-page basis. And will not require any modifications to your existing site structure or logic. If you would like more information, or to speak with someone about how this can help your site please call (617-229-7210) or e-mail ( Brattle.

Citrus Acquisitions

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

Over the past few months, Brattle President Bob Cote and the Brattle team have been working with Citrus Acquisitions to develop a truly revolutionary application.  Brattle was originally brought in to discuss architecting a solution for the failing finance center, and what our two companies came up with promises to be an application unlike any other currently available. In order to assist investors, this new product utilizes crawling, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities to understand global trends and viable market targets for acquisition and/or leverage buy out.

This method is yet unavailable to other acquisition firms, thus helping to set Citrus Acquisitions above the curve. Brattle is proud to be an integral component of this new application’s development. Expect to hear more about this new application as development continues and visit Citrus Acquisitions.

South Shore Young Professionals

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

Last month, Brattle took on a job for the South Shore Young Professionals, a networking site to provide information, resources, and opportunities to young professionals on the South Shore of Massachusetts. Brattle completely overhauled the old site to create an appealing yet simple interface for SSYP’s members. Plus as a way of sponsorship, Brattle provided services at a reduced rate. After working with SSYP, Brattle determined the best features to incorporate on the site, which includes a customized “contact us” form, an easy-to-update events calendar, and an improved current and archived news section. Brattle is glad to help and hopes that SSYP enjoys continued success!

Increasing Website Usability: Inkcups Now PadSearch

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

A leading supplier in pad printing, screen printing, and inkjet printing, Inkcups Now has been a loyal customer of Brattle Consulting Group from the beginning.  Recently, however, Inkcups Now asked us to develop a very useful new application for their site. We created a new online search utility for their (very!) wide selection of printing pads.

Previously, a customer would have had to browse through many pages of the company’s hundreds of printing pads in order to find the one that fit their needs. With PadSearch however, a customer can search for a printing pad by number, size, type, manufacturer, and more! As you can imagine, this has made the process of finding and ordering the perfect printing pad much more simple and streamlined.

Check out PadSearch for yourself here and ask us how we can develop something similar for your online business!

New Hosting Features Added

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Brattle is constantly striving to improve on our already sterling reputation as providers of exceptional website construction, hosting, and maintenance services. By offering expertise in each of these vital aspects, we believe we are able to offer a more holistic approach to online business creation and upkeep.  This month we have added new features to our hosting environment options, in order to continue to exceed our clients’ expectations.

When several of our clients requested more information about their bandwidth usage, we created an application to serve their needs. In order to prevent overage charges and to keep our clients better-informed, we developed a tool that allows you to track your bandwidth usage real time so you know how much of your quota you have used, and can make necessary adjustments to your account. This monitoring is important because it ensure that your site is running quickly and efficiently. If a certain bandwidth threshold is crossed, an email is sent to Brattle’s account executives, thus proactively monitoring and reducing the number of overages.

Brattle has also developed a new proprietary product called Link Checker, which does exactly what you might guess it does – check links. This tool is for clients who use our Content Management Systems (CMS), to make sure all the links within their sites are active and accurate. Link Checker works on a nightly basis to help visitors avoid a “page not found” error in their browser, and helps them continue viewing all the information on your site that you want them to see.

Both of these new features are included free of charge in Brattle’s hosting packages. If you’re experiencing any unresponsiveness, downtime, or email struggles with your current hosting provider please contact us to learn about the improved hosting environment Brattle can provide for your online business.

Brattle Creates Hot New Site for 900 Degrees

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Brattle came to the rescue for 900 Degrees – a pizzeria in Manchester, NH – when we took over development of their website from another developer whose progress was disappointing the restaurant.  We were able to deploy our proprietary content management system (CMS) that gave them the ability to modify their web site without going through us every time something needed to be changed. We also created a photo gallery with unique effects and the ability to easily upload photos to that page. 900 Degrees’ site is a great example of the customization and uniqueness we provide to our clients, but if you see something you like, bear in mind that we are also able to adapt many of the features seen there to other projects.
